Here the assassin shows the prey was a woodpigeon. She stayed for quite some time and when she had finished dining she took the carcass with her, and left all the feathers for me to clear up. Apart from feathers the only thing left was a number of corn seeds presumably from the pigeon's crop.

I think this one works better as the branches are bolder in the image. Sure is making a good job of plucking that Pigeon...kinda glad I buy mine form the local supermarket lol

Jon:

Impressive amount of feathers strewn about, good view of eye and action.

Not an easy image to crop. I might like to be a bit tighter, esp. to eliminate the vegetation in lower left corner, but can understand why you left it, the bird would just be too crowded down into the corner.

Cheers

Never knew Wood Pigeons had so many white feathers. It's a great image. Like the suggestions above.

What a messy lunch??. Fabulous action captured. Beside the action and nice head turn, I like the 3D effect caused by feathers in the FG and trees in the BG.
Wonderful frame. Love it.

Hi Jon, great action captured here, and you have captured good detail on the sparrowhawk. The light looks nice and soft, and the scattered feathers shows the carnage. An opportunity well used.
