During the first week of July Sigma Canada loaned me a 15mm Fisheye lens. I had a blast photographing various subjects with the lens, so much fun that I rarely took the lens off the camera the entire time I had it. Prior to packing the lens up for return I took one last drive around the neighborhood for a couple of crop shots. This image of a winter wheat crop at dusk turned out to be my favorite of the bunch.

Nikon D800
Sigma 15mm f2.8 EX DG Fisheye Lens
ISO 800

Handheld

Look forward to comments.

Hi Andrew - this looks like a lot of fun to experiment with and I think you did well. I would have preferred just a tiny bit more sky at the middle top but a really fun shot with nice dof and sharpness.

TFS,
Rachel

Hi, Andrew, I think you've proved it - the earth is indeed round:S3: I love the wheat - it makes for a great fish-eye shot. I think you could crop a little from the bottom also for a different look.

I would love to shoot with a fisheye lens.
I agree with Rachel, a bit more sky for me and a bit off the bottom.

Thanks for the comments folks much appreciated. I was thinking of a small crop off the bottom...sounds like we all agree. :S3:

Loving the perspective here, Andrew!
Besides the crop suggestions, I was thinking it needs just a bit more "oomph". I think I overdid it slightly here, but you'll get the picture and possibly find a midway.
Some burning of shadows and dodging of highlights in the wheat, plus a touch of midtone contrast overall.
WDYT?

Thanks for the repost Morkel...pumping up the wheat a little more would take the image up a notch. Good suggestion!

Cool image Andrew, can see why you had fun and you done well with is composition, it almost looks 3D well done. Added contrast in the repost works great.

Very cool indeed. Agreed a little more sky and Morkel's punch a great addition.

Hey Andrew,
I have yet to play with the lens but may try in Yellowstone! I like the suggestions of a crop off the bottom......I think this would make a very strong pano!

Very cool image, Andrew. I like the punched up idea in Morkel's repost, and the pano crop is very strong for this image as well. Creative approach, and well seen !!
