Haven't posted in a while........This geyser erupts about every 20 minutes.....a friend and I were sitting on the boardwalk waiting for the eruption and I knew because of the wind & light direction.....we would get a rainbow......crowd of 10-15 gathers on my assurance of rainbow........20 minutes go by.....30min....still laughing and joking about turning on switch........40......still nothing.........grumblings on intelligence/sanity begin.....50 minutes....."friend" begins to disassociate himself as mob begins to turn unruly.......nowhere to run....57 minutes....eruption with rainbow, all is forgiven!
7 minutes later......erupts again!....and again 10 minutes later! See, I do know what I'm talking about (just ask my wife)....I have to learn how to quit when I'm ahead :p.

Taken In Yellowstone NP using the digital Rebel and the 17-40mm lens at 24mm, ISO 200 at f16 for 1/250 sec. Handheld as my film camera was on the tripod:).

As always comments welcomed and appreciated.

Timing is everything! I've heard that phrase applied to many endeavors. You certainly know that now!

Nice mid-day scene and image, Roman.

It was actually 3pm

I think that still counts as close to mid-day. Especially when you consider sunset was probably 8pm. :)

Nope David,
Late Sept is around 7.........when do you expect to get a rainbow?

Roman,

I like the idea of going low here and setting the geyser against the sky. Then you have the tree line coming in from the right at a diagonal to break up the FG diagonal that is sloping down. Nice composition.

Didn't catch the part about Sept. But can't you get a rainbow just by opening a box of Lucky Charms? :D

I like this image alot. I have been there (Yellowstone) many times but have not captured this particular Geiser as nicely as you did here.
I am heading to Yellowstone again a week from today so I will make another attempt at this one.
Nice Job, the rainbow seals the deal for me.
