Nice detail in the bird. Light looks harsh.

Like you mentioned, some harsh light giving you those hard edged shadows. I think you handled it well and came back with a nice keeper.

I like the dark greens playing against the yellows and the spotlight effect.
Good IQ and I like the composition. I like the detail in the little foot as well.
My only nit with this image is that I don't like the blunt end of the rather large perch.

What a lovely subject to have in your garden. If he is a regular visitor, I would try to provide some smaller perches for him and work with better light. A slight head turn toward the viewer would be more engaging also.

Interesting Spot light type effect here, i like the way that eye looks
You have handled the harsh light very nicely
the red eye on yellow makes it nice to look at on the green BG for me

Thank you everyone for comments! The "perch" is a very special piece of hardwood that I discovered in a bag of braaiwood, it is almost hollow and we fill it with seeds to feed the weavers. It looks a lot better than a plastic/metal feeding tray. We have to move our portable hide in different positions for morning and afternoon sun, very often the action is midmorning, that explains the harsh light.
