Straight out of camera other than minor exposure adjustment and sharpening.

All comments--negative and positive--and suggestions always welcome. I fully understand that these abstract images aren't for everyone.

Here is the same composition with much greater DoF:

I did this version for comparison purposes only and really do not care for it, which is why I didn't bother with image clean up (unlike OP, this version needs it).

Focus stacked from 42 exposures (1/2 sec at f/8) in Zerene Stacker.

I love these kind of abstract images and flowers make such wonderful subjects! How long does it take Zerene to work through 42 exposures?

Wonderful composition with the lines all gracefully flowing upwards and beautiful rich glowing colors with subtle transitions. I love the addition of the one focused edge but I believe it needs to be tweaked. Just thinking out loud, maybe the short line dropping out of the image at the bottom could be blurred and not sharp. Since all the other lines flow up, this one sharp line feels like it is going down, making it a dissonant element.

Mitch...I much prefer the oof image....it looks like flames. I will have to get out my extension tubes after viewing this! TFS

Hi Mitch, very nice abstract - I wish I had more of an eye for this kind of shot. I really like the soft focus, the flowing lines, and tones. well done. - Allen

Thank you all for your comments and time. My experience has been that most really like my abstract images or really do not (not much in the way of middle ground).

Nancy: It only took ZS 2 or 3 minutes to do the stacking. (I got a new iMac a few months ago; with my old machine I'd still be waiting. I replace computers every 9 years whether I need it or not.) I hadn't noticed, but you make a good point regarding the the sharp line descending out of the frame. Thanks for the suggestion. Here is a repost:
