Here I set out to capture the butterfly in it's environment, all C&C welcome.

I like what you're doing here, Jon. Good use of DoF. The OoF seed heads work well, but I find them too bright and suggest a little dodging. Overall, a pleasing image, although I'm also surprised, considering the frequency at which you suggest it, that you didn't put the meadow brown in the LR RoT position.

nice image of a meadow brown,they don't keep still enough for me to take an image of one.

This is very well done Jonathan! You've got the butterfly completely in the plane of focus, so everything looks sharp. I also like that we see some of its environment. I second the comment about off-centering the butterfly towards the LL ROT hotspot by cropping from the UL corner.

Thanks very much everyone, the image was cropped as is becasue I felt the surrounding grasses provided the best pictorial surroundings. I was determined to try to present the image as it was as far as possible without brushing and cloning.
