This was taken on a pelagic boat trip off Sydney a month or so ago. The Albatross do follow the boat as food is being thrown off the back for them. Black-browed Albatross (pretty sure it is). Very overcast day.
1D MK 4, 70-300 @ 120, 1/2000 @ 5.6, ISO 1000. Manual Mode.
Thanks, Tom.

Tom,
The overcast day helped you out with those whites. Spot on exposure! I like the tilt of the head, where you get a glimpse of both eyes and the landing gear partially down is a plus.
If only the right wing was as stretched out as the left, but that's just getting a little picky.

First time I've seen one of these birds. Nice inflight shot. On my monitor, it looks like a bit of highlight recovery could help with the background (show the clouds in the sky - like I said, might just be my monitor).

Looks OK this end - this is the first image I have posted that was processed on my new calibrated 27 inch HP monitor.

Lovely flight pose and image. Like the translucence of the dangling webbed feet. Your exposure is spot on.
