Nikon D300 w/Nikkor 105mm micro lens, tripod mounted.
ISO 400; f/32, 1/60 sec.
The feather was placed on a translucent white acrylic sheet and illuminated from above by twin wireless SB-R200 speedlights and by another from below the sheet.
Minor standard CS6 adjustments were made.

The feather measured 5 inches long by 4 inches wide by 1 1/2 inches deep at the widest point. When held at the base and moved gently, the finer elements of the feather seemed to float in the air.

All comments are welcome.

Norm, I love this! Love the hi-key look. Love the flow from downy softness to the fine lines of the feather at the tip. Love the composition with the feather on the diagonal. Love the color. Well done!

A cool image and an original idea, Norm. Textures & lines work well, as does angled composition. I do wish it wasn't so tight up top.

I like this very much indeed it really appeals to me. I think it is the colour combination, the background isn't quite pure white and the finest barbules still have colour in them. I could see this making a very pleasant print.
