Taken this morning,half the river in shade,and the top half in early morning light,the white bits are foam bubbles created by the the river bubbling over large rocks,cannon 500mm IS L F4,FL700mm,small crop,touch of sharpening,comments good or bad.thanks.iso500,1/400s,F6.3,tripod.

Nice overall, but I wish the upper beak weren't so much the same tonality as the water behind it. If it were me, I'd do a very careful quick mask of it and lighten it.

Very pretty light and pose, and a nice feel to this. I really like the color tones in this.

To me, this is an intimate image of this species vocalizing. The viewer is so close here. It's wonderful that way imo. I also enjoy the sharpening job on the bird and perch. The bird's feet show very well against the rock! Actually I enjoy most everything about the image. I am wondering if you post processed the top green part of the frame differently than it came out of camera? I can't tell if you did...just wondering.

Thanks for looking,Shawn if you mean the yellowy green bits above the birds head near the top of the frame,they are colored bits of stone in the water,I nearly cloned them out ,but left them in,these are in the original raw file.

Hi Chris, sweet light which in turn has brought out the warm colours on the sandpiper. Well timed to capture the calling pose, and I do like the running water around the rock perch.

Magnificent image of calling sand piper.
Love the pose with open beak, beautiful colors,light nice details,moving water along the perch,BG and composition.
