Finally got out to shoot today despite all the rain and clouds we ended up with some great diffused light. I love how I got this skimmer just about straight on. Cropped for a pan and tight to show the water drops

What a cracking shot Cheryl. Never seen this angle before and it makes for a wonderful image. The delicate skim through the water is beautiful. A great image to give my first comments on since joining the forum.

Great symmetry on this shot Cheryl. I like the pano crop and the water splashing up from the beak. Even though we can't see its eyes, it still makes a strong statement.

This is the hardest bird shot to get. well done.
I like the droplets and the pano crop is the only way to go.

It always amazes me how thin the bill is, it sure does not look that way from a side angle! Excellent incoming pose Cheryl, and the pano crop was a no-brainer here. Were you standing in the water?

Wonderful! And a perfect, simple BG for the strong graphic nature of the shot. The DOF on the water is perfect.

You nailed this one, Cheryl. Love how sharp the beak and head are, and the water droplets are a big plus. The pano crop worked great here. Wish I had been standing next to you.

Have you tried Viveza Structure, or slight amounts of CEP Tonal Contrast or Detail Extractor? You should be able to get a very subtle effect to bring out detail in the water that doesn't look pushed.

Yes Mr Kaluski. I did a luminosity mask first then a little saturation on the bg only. This looks a little better to me.:wave:

Why did you add some Saturation? Personally I feel a lot could have been within the RAW and then play with the layers. You should grab a flight to Vancouver and we can do a quick days tuition in 2014, LOL. :bg3:

Great image Cheryl! I like the low angle, unique perspective and composition. Repost is an improvement to me.
