I'm going to be purchasing a used EF 300 mm f/2.8 to use with my 1D Mark 4. Since this is NOT the 300mm f/2.8 II, is there any benefit to using the 1.4 TC III over the 1.4 TC II with this set up?

Thanks,

Bob Serling

I've used this lens extensively for several years, and it's quality is excellent with the 2X also. When I got the new 600 II I got the new III series TC's and tried them on the older 300 and honestly couldn't tell any difference with something well controlled like birds posing on my perches. Not exactly a bench test but a good everyday test, as I have always been able to get tack-sharp images with either the 1.4x or the 2x.

I think you'll love this lens!
