Taken on a cloudy, rainy day. Nikon D4, 1/200 @7.1, ISO 400, -3 AV, 300mm F4, handheld.

Roy:

The adult doesn't seem to interested in feeding this big chick!

Well exposed, and I do like the interaction. Not quite enough DOF for the adult.

The dull lighting didn't help with illuminating the dark areas of the adult. I would have been tempted to push up the ISO to both increase the shutter speed and go for a smaller f/stop.

Cheers

Is this better of the adult?

Roy:

A far more engaging photo overall for me. Not only a greater sense of action, but the increased contrast helps add some snap, and the blacks are much less blocked as well on the adult. Yes, would prefer heads towards us, but I like it better than the OP

I like the second better too Roy. Very nice. What birds are these?

Randy, I like the open mouth of the first and the adult in the second. Maybe a composite?:S3:

Thanks Jeannean, these are European Starlings , Sturnus vulgaris , an introduced species that has spread throughout N. America.

The second one is my favorite. Really like the action and the berries.

Hi Roy, interesting images. The OP has the youngster performing, the repost has the parent performing. I do prefer the repost, although its not really a repost. Yes the adult is more exposed in the 2nd image, and the overall IQ is better too.
