Another image from the same series. Some of you have requested for me to post an image of the chick only to show how small the nest is relative to the chick. I believe this chick was about 1-2 weeks from fledging. Here is one without the parent, sitting on the nest. While I was looking for the landing shots most of the morning, I quickly put on the the 2x TCIII and got some close up of the shots.

You did well to take a variety of images of this encounter. I wouldn't mind the little guy a bit lower in the frame but the vertical comp still works well as is. Perfect head angle, awesome details. Some of the blacks are quite dark, almost blocked...maybe you can recover those, even if just a bit, in raw conversion. Quite a memorable series you've presented us!!

That's wild. Hardly seems there is enough nest there for the bird. Although I can see it much more easily now without the adult behind...thanks for posting this. Very cute youngster. I dig the mottled plumage.

I have enjoyed this series Troy. This is the smallest nest compared to bird size that I have ever seen.

Fun to finally see this chick in all of its glory and sitting on that tiny nest. Lovely green BG. Could maybe find an even better crop as Daniel suggested.

What a little sweety pie. That is pretty amazing how small that nest is. Troy, what kind of chick is it? Great detail on the head and face
