I found a nice one this morning.
400mm w/1.4x, ISO 800, f/9
thanks for any input, be assured I read and learn from every comment

This was tight top to bottom in a horiz shot, added about 1" canvas to bottom.
Did not like as horiz.

Good exposure on the heron, I would however tone down the perch at URC. I like the "mean" look on this guy's eye. Some will rather see the displaced feather gone (including me) but it is also fine as is.

Thanks for input Daniel. Do you mean to darken the perch more up there?
Would that make it different from the rest of the perch?
Thank you

Well, maybe not the bark itself, but more the lichen on it.

Very nice overall. The sharpness and details are great. The comp is good. I really like the feet and the color. The lichen dont bother me as much as the bright legs, darkening these and the perch would really help balance the tones in the image.

I like the pose and agree that it is a bit tight in the frame. What was the shutter speed? Could you have stopped down more for wider DOF?

Axel, I could have easily stopped down.....but I was still on first cup of coffee :)
No excuse, but I'll learn....thanks
