I was hoping to make this my 4,000th post but it didn't quite work out!! Never mind, I have at last got the image I have been waiting for - about 30 years believe it or not! Thus far I had managed to get images of immature dragons and damsels with the exuvia but never actually emerging. I got this one last week but only just - another 5 minutes and it would have been too late. I stayed around for a couple of hours so I have a series from emergence to the wing stretch prior to first flight.

Very cool image, and got that you finally got what you were after all these years. And of course congratulations with your 4007th post! Hope to see more of the series.
Details and colors are great. I might consider opening up the shades a little.

Sweet image. And, photography aside, must have been a very cool experience! Nice work and congrats. :5

Amazing how they can do that! Thanks for the chance to see it secondhand!

Did it drop to the ground after coming free?

Congrats Jon! The long wait paid off with an excellent image! Very good overall sharpness, nicely lit and composed, and against a clean background. If this was mine, I'd probably clone some of the flash-generated specular highlights on the emerging adult, but it's a very minor point. I'm looking forward to seeing more shots from this series!
