Dam hard little speedsters to get a clear shot of, and lots of duds while trying, this one still not quite the ticket....but still keeping it :w3

Captured this little missle flying past the travelling houseboat last week, hand held shot.

Nikon D300 + Nikon 80-200 f2.8.....1/125mm, f4, 1/2000, ISO250, + 0.3 EV, Aperture Priority....cropped, selective sharpen and noise reduction

Hi Phil,
I am impressed by your skill in capturing this guy.
Great top side view and sharp.Catch light is nice as well.
I still recognize that brown color of the Murray River!

Nice one Phil
we get these and know how difficult it is to get such a image, you have got the exposure perfect and the wings full spread and the colours are looking great
fantastic image

Wow Phil, your caption says it all. Really impressed you were able to keep this guy in the frame. How many were you able to take before he was out of the frame?!

If this isn't "quite the ticket", it sure is close. I can't tell you how many frustrating moments I've spent trying to get a shot like this. Great pose, colors, sharpness. Well done.

Beautiful color and sharpness on this speedy subject. Looks like it is getting ready to pull into a 9G turn.

Terrific job on getting this swallow sharp. Love the flight pose, esp seeing that fork in the tail.

Phil, beautiful capture. How big of a crop? I'm impressed that you shot this one with a 70-200. Perfect exposure, good sharpness, nice wing position, and the latte BG is actually quite appealing, just don't drink it ;)

Amazing capture Phil! Good choice of lens, I recently tried to photograph Swallows in flight but only had my 300 and 500 with-could not even find the bird flying past...Brilliant image, would like to see more of these little guys, I love the pose here and the IQ is great-congratulations!

Kind regards,

Hi Phil, I would take this any day. Very well captured, love the full wingspread, and overall, nice and sharp. This pose shows off the colours nicely.

I think this is pretty much the envy of most here.
I don't know how many misses I have of one of these, but a lot.
You even got the head turn and a great BG.
A big congrats from me!

Thanks Loi.....cropped from this original....was the older Nikon 80-200 non VR rather than the 70-200

Kudos, Phil. Perhaps the hardest birds to freeze in flight. You've done a stellar job. And even got a head turn towards you!

Quite the crop...but the details held up beautifully (new camera?). Great job from the in-camera work to the processing.
