From last month before the vegetation turned green. I liked how its head stood out in front of the darker area in the BG.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/320s., f/6.3, ISO 800, levelled horizon then cropped for comp (80% FF), smoothed aout a couple of harder lines in the BG via low opacity clone stamp., darkened pupil.

lovely low angle image with excellent IQ & exposure. Maybe a little less centered comp?

The colors in the BG are perfect for this bird! Great detail and composition. I could see possibly a little more removed from the right, or a slight gradient burn of the wake near the edge.

Everything looks great. Nice and parallel to the sensor, totally agree the dark spot around the head makes the image.

I like the push wake and trail, and your low shooting angle is perfect.

Excellent image, Daniel Sir. Great low angle, beautiful colors and wonderful details.
Love the 3D effect caused by horizontal lines, raised water in front and at the tail end and vertical dark lines in the BG.
If mine ,Would crop silver line at the bottom.

Regards,
Satish.

Great setting, Daniel. It's quite the wake it has created. Fine job.

Beautiful low angle shot. Lovely tones throughout as well. I might burn the wake just a bit to lessen the brightness. Just a beautiful image.

Love these little guys, Dan. Super image—love the water and bg which is so complimentary to the bird. Very appealing to my eyes.

Hi - this is amazing. Were you in the water for this, or in a boat? I'd like to get a photo like this, but I think I need to be wearing waders. It looks too low for a boat.

Great shot!

Stunning image as always! Love your flame like backgounds. Question though: What causes the slight posterization in NR backgrounds?

Thank you everyone! Ashleigh, no boat and no waders for this image...just lying flat on my tummy at the edge of the water:S3:

Your angle here is fantastic. I like that there is just a bit of a wave in front (and back) of the bird to indicate a bit of movement, in an otherwise very still lake/pond. Others may think it's too centered but I think the shot would lose something if you crop any more from the right. If there was no water/wave movement on either side of the bird I'd say it's too centered but the subtle waves are all part of it. My opinion.
