had the pleasure of shooting 2 cooperative green heron down river this morning.
Sunlit duckweed created the bright bg.
First time using beanbag from van window......man, Have I ever been missing out!

Dave,
Even though you had some strong light, you managed it well and created a nice expressive image. I like the duckweed on the bill as well. BG is nice and diffused. If at all possible, getting lower can provide a dramatically different look to images like this.
Well done.

Very Very good Dave, other than the stronger than ideal light I wouldnt change a thing.
Bean bags are really the best. I recommend the BLUBB.

thanks guys, appreciate all the input....all I get is sun lately.
The sun cannot get into the narrow area I shoot green herons until a couple hours after sunrise....bummer.
sure hope I get some overcast, but bright days soon

What a nice image. Up close and great detail. Nice job on sharpening the feathers without overdoing it.
