First it was a thorny perch, now here is a velvety one...a young sumac. This guy was quite the willing subject!

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1000s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, FF, usual eye work, a small silk web strand running across the left half of the frame cloned out, lower part of perch darkened via burn tool. Audio.

What a terrific image, Daniel. My favorite part of this image are the vegetation above and the peach fuzz all over the perch! The pose works perfectly with the vegetation. You are killing it with that new lens!!!

I have always liked sumac as a perch, detailed and interesting without overpowering the subject.

The veg. at the top does add a nice framing element. In a perfect world, might prefer not to clip the leaves at the frame edge, but you often have to crop it somewhere!

the bird itself is very nice, sharp, well exposed.
