This is my second post and my intention is to share some fun I had this afternoon. I updated my 1D MK III firmware last evening and wanted to test it and have fun.

So I went to a water bassin nearby to shoot Common Terns. Right away, for those who do not know terns, they are quite erratic in their flight, especially when feeding. That's what I would call acrobatic flying.

Anyhow, here is one of numerous shots I have done with the kit this afternoon. I think Canon has done it :). Shooting at 10fps, AI servo and thanks to Artie's 1D3 CFn setup.

1D MK III, 300 f/2.8L IS+1.4X, f/8, ISO 200, 1/1250sec.. The shot is a 30% crop.

Great photo Jean-Daniel! And good news about the new firmware! Interesting pose, excellent head sharpness and wing blur, and nice BG.

Wow! I agree that terns are erratic fliers, but I have never seen this particular pose before. Good sharpness on the head. I wonder if the image could go lighter overall. You might experiment with some different crops. Taking some off the bottom to produce a pano would fit well with the pano look of the bird here.

A bit more light and adjustments in the levels.
