Flash for Africa Trip - Need Advice

I will be going to Amboseli and the Serengeti in June and wonder if I should get a flash + Better Beamer or not. I had a Canon 580EX and Better Beamer in the past, but was never quite comfortable with it for birds. Of course, the flash only fired on the first shot. Appreciate your comments and suggestions. hi LOi,
I have been to Africa 4 times in the last 4 years, about 3 or 4 weeks each visit and
I only used my flash once during my first safari and that was for an indoor family portrait! Didn't bring a flash the last 2 trips and cannot think of any opportunity missed because
I didn 't have my flash.
if you are sharing a jeep with other guests
I think it would very intrusive to their enjoyment of their safari if a flash was going off.

Hi Gail, thank you for your comments. I won't bother with the flash, was never comfortable with it when I had it, and then lost it anyay :(.
