This Square-headed Wasp (Ectemnius sp.) was photographed in my lightbox setup as it groomed its wing with its rear leg. Note also all the parasitic mites attached to its head legs, and abdomen. This is a type of solitary wasp that makes its nest in the soft pith of twigs. Several individual cells are constructed and a paralyzed fly is placed in each for a wasp larva to feed upon. 5D II, 100 mm macro, 1/160, f/16, ISO 125, 2 remotely fired flashes, hand held. All comments are welcome and appreciated.

It doesn't get much better than this Steve, the plane and DOF is about spot on. Exposure is equally good and the detail in the eye is marvellous, a great shot.

Outstanding. You do a great job with these insect shots. I hope you make a book of them someday, or print them for a show.
