Man,..I gota get to Bosque,..what a great moment with nature,..just lovely. The feather detail is great. The opportunity is the top and bottom edges. Consider smoothing the sticks and cloning a cleaner bottom edge and removing a small layer. I would crop the brown strip at the top too, but that's me - lets see what others say. Nice post, do have more from the trip?

The exposure techs are solid too, great kit for flight.

Thanks, Jeff. I found the top too 'bland' when I cropped out the top shore. I see what you mean about the bottom. Although I like the habitat, perhaps evicting a few twigs from the bottom might improve things. I'll go back and try that.

Yes, you MUST get to Bosque. I wouldn't recommend early January when I took this (it's too cold), but November 2011 was absolutely amazing.

Ian,

Do Not let me talk you out of habitat,..you are the photographer and that is what you saw. It looks real good ether way, just offering suggestions my friend!!

Yes, November - I will be there this year!

It looks like I will be there the week of Dec. 9. November wasn't available in our vacation schedule at work.

Lovely pose, great details, great light. I'm with Jeff in that I find the top strip a bit distracting, perhaps darken it a little more would help.

Thanks, Loi. Here is an edit without the top border (used Content Aware Fill in CS6 to give myself some real-estate on top). Thoughts?
