Just got back from a great trip to Holland. Keukenhof was amazing. Heck, beyond amazing. Though the coldest late winter/spring in 75 years delayed the fields by 3-4 weeks we still found some nice stuff.
This 3-frame in-camera Art Vivid HDR image was created at Lisse, Holland on the recently concluded Tulip IPT with the tripod-mounted Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS EF USM AF Lens (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/397662-USA/Canon_0344B002_24_105mm_f_4L_IS_EF.html/BI/6633/KBID/7226/kw/CA241054LIS/DFF/d10-v2-t1-xCA241054LIS)(at 24mm) and the Canon EOS 5D Mark III Digital camera body (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/847545-REG/Canon_5260B002_EOS_5D_Mark_III.html/BI/6633/KBID/7226/kw/CAE5D3/DFF/d10-v2-t1-xCAE5D3) ISO 100. Evaluative metering +1/3 stop yielded a base exposure of: 1/60 sec. at f/10 in Manual mode. Central sensor/AI Servo Rear Focus AF 1/2 way into the foreground flowers and recompose. To see two others in this series and perhaps learn a bit about image design see yesterday's blog post, Variety... (http://www.birdsasart-blog.com/2013/05/07/variety-2/) Take a moment to leave a comment there and let us know which is your fave.

As for this image, don't be shy; all comments are welcome.

Artie - Blame it on jetlag! I really like the leading lines of the image and the vibrant colors. Well seen and captured as usual.

TFS,
Rachel

Artie, great timing on this photo. It is actually tulip time up here in Holland Michigan all week. A yearly festival in the dutch settlement area, right where my ancestors are from. Always a sure sign of Spring! I like the diagonal paths here especially the bright orange. Nice placement of the building. It is sad they were not all in bloom, everything is late this year. TFS, like to see your work in other areas besides avian.

Gary.

Hey Gary. I mentioned Holland MI today to Denise. Former home of now-defunct Birder's World magazine. Thanks for your kind comments. A good picture is a good picture no matter the subject.

Very nice comp Arthur...perfect lighting for this one as well. I like the way the main row of tulips leads us into the image. My tulips have finally begun to bloom up here.

Hey Artie, nice to have you posting here for a change :5.
Nice scene and colours. I felt it needed a little "oomph" as in this RP I added some slight LCE and a hint of burning shadows to the clouds and tulips. WDYT?
Do you have any where you captured the "lines" between the flowers running vertically from your position into the frame (head-on)?

Superb scene, lines and colours Artie. I like Morkel's version with a little more pop.

Nice colorful, geometry in the image. The very bright orange rows in the midst of the duller mixed color tulips makes it work.
