This image of a white-tailed deer and cowbird was created last June at Agassiz NWR. I liked the look of this one as a fun behavior image. Let me be the first to note that the mixed light is far from ideal and that the background being immediately behind the deer's head is busy. I think the tight vertical crop fits the subject material here. 20D, 500 f/4, 1/250, f/8, ISO 400. Comments are welcome.

Hi Steve,
Mixed light and BG are fine for me. The grasses look a little over saturated on my monitor and toning them down overall to a little darker would only add to the overall appeal of this image. I like this a lot!

Great shot. It would be a good portrait without the bird. With the bird, it moves into another special realm entirely. Beautiful.

Roman, I agree with you about the saturation in the greens. Somehow the saturation was increased during the downloading process - the original greens are more subdued.

Great capture of wildlife buddies. The eye contact from both make this one for me. Concur with noted comments about the greens of the grasses but sounds like you're all over that already.

Great image... Over the top for sure. Grass BG and light don't bother me a bit.

Wonderful!
