After trying finally got the exposure of the Bird and BG within limits. This Gull is a visitor that comes to our island during winter. Not so common here. Mannar, Sri Lanka.

D 800 200-400mm F/4 + 1.4 TC, 550mm F/5.6 1/1600 +1 EV ISO 500, Hand held.

Cropped, levels and shadow/highlights adjusted, eye shp, beak cleaned. NR , sharpened.

Your critiques and comments appreciated.

Thanks,

Hiran

Like all gulls I find this one quite beautiful. Exposure and sharpness look good. Wings up are ideal. I'd have preferred the subject bigger in the frame though...if the IQ can take it I'd crop some from bottom and right.

Hi Hiran, good wing position, well exposed, and agree, cropping in closer will work better. I feel there is a touch too much empty space in front.

I like the wing position, sharpness and exposure. The eye looks like it would match the BG. I would also like to see a closer crop. Nice image.

Lovely bird and image. Exposure looks nice. I agree that a tighter crop would give us more gorgeous bird! I wonder whether you have any of this bird where his face is angled a little bit more toward you. That would also would help to make this image even nicer.

Hi Marina, The next picture seems as if the bird has passed the camera, also it did not turn it's head my way :S3: ! So had to use this image, Thank you for your comments.
