Hi everyone,
When attaching a large lens (600 or 8mm L) to a 5D III or 7D, do you think having a battery grip makes a difference in the focusing speed or the overall performance of the camera? Am I correct to assume that large lenses require more power from the camera battery and therefore would work more quickly if the body had a battery grip with two batteries in it?

Thanks for the feedback.

no it makes no difference because only one battery is used at a time. Only the larger battery pack used in 1D cameras can deliver higher voltage to the servo.

Arash what did you think of the battery life in the 1DX I was not impressed with mine (which I sold) but others tell me it is better than the 1DMKIV and 1DMKIII, what was your impression? I have ordered a second 1DX now quite a bit cheaper than the almost $8000 that I paid for a first shipment (will not do that again) and should I order a second battery. Thanks Chris.

Hi Chris the 1DX battery has higher capacity than 1D4 for the same size and weight.
