I have seen pellets before but never this size, even from an adult. This owlet had just exited his cavity and begun branching for the first time earlier in the day. I realized he was going to regurgitate a pellet and prepared...but never for anything this size. He seemed quite curious about his own pellet and watched it drop. His cavity is just under the visible perch.

The miracles of nature never cease to amaze me, and I love being in a constant state of learning.

You have captured an amazing moment in nature. Love the position of the bird in the composition, well balanced. TFS, keep them coming.

Neat! Looks like the whole mouse! Maybe heights make him queasy. Wonderful greens in background, seems like subject could use a bit more contrast.

Incredible moment you captured!! The bird seems just a bit lost in the bright greens of the bkgd. Maybe a bit lighter on the face? Composition-wise, I really like the vertical line of the branch on the left and the vertical line of the vine on the trunk on the right. Those lines plus the nice curved sweep of the edge of the tree trunk to the right of the bird, makes for very nice framing.

I bet he was glad to get rid of that! Just a touch of fill flash on the owl would have helped, the perch and tree trunk and vine are sharp and a plus, the vegetation in the BG is OOF just the right amount. Excellent image.
