Wilson's Snipe

It uses its long bill to probe into the mud for invertabrates that likely no other bird can reach :S3: Photographed along an agricultural road from the comfort of my car (which is seen reflected in the eye). Audio used.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/500s., f/5, ISO 800, natural light, lens resting on car door window opening, a few imperfections in the BG eliminated via clone and patch tools.

Hey all thanks! Lorant, the 100-400 is resting comfortably but will stay in the arsenal as I love it and it will have its uses. Here's an unsharpened and no NR'd 100% crop of the eye

I love the colour, patterns, sharp detail and subdued lighting of the bird. It was good to catch the bill slightly open and there is a nice pattern to the OOF background. I look forward to seeing more images taken with your new purchase Daniel.
