Today was my first sighting this Spring of this ethereal singer of the north woods.

D7000, 300 f/4 AF-S, 1.7TC, hand-held. Manual exp., AF-C, 1/800. f/7.1, ISO1100, pattern metering, EV -0.33.

Raw, precessed in LR4. Some cloning and bg smoothing, re-sizing etc. in PSE9.

What a cute, chubby little thing! Love it and the BG! Framing (crop, if any) is perfect for me.

Liking very much the singing pose and lichen covered perch, the oof foliage looks rather nice as well. Cropping is often personal choice, but I think this could do with being a little looser in the frame, it looks a little over sharpened as well....to make the bird smaller in the frame would draw less attention to the over sharpened effect I think

Such a nice image if this bird. The pose with the open beak is srtiking and the perch and background are nice too, Richard.

Hi Richard, love the round shape of this little fellow, and well timed to capture the singing pose with the open beak. Nicely separated from the BG, and there is visible noise on the tail.

Very nice singing pose and BG. I agree a looser crop might work better.

Nice image Richard! Really like the singing pose and mossy perch. I also like the Bg. This also a little tight for me and I beleive if you have it, a little more space to the left and top would open the image up nicely.
