One of the treats of the Kgalagadi is getting decent daytime sightings of the Brown Hyena.
A face only a mother could love! Taken at last light this November past as he strolled up for a drink.

Eish! This is a new one Morkel! Awesome light and contrast with the lighter and warmer BG on top! The raised legs add a lot as well! Only you getting brownie-points for this one... :t3

Where in KTP was this? Low angle... so not Nossob hide...?

Very, very nice, Morkel. A real treat to get a fine image of the Brown Hyena, in pleasant light no less. I must be a brown hyena's mother, since I find this species attractive:S3:. Love the markings on the legs and the shaggy coat.
TFS and congrats on the capture. Kij Kij is north of Twee Rivieren from what I remember.

Hi Morkel - a definite treat to see a brown hyena and you've captured it well. Beautiful light, nice walking pose and good detail. Unfortunate placement of droppings in the fg but it is nature. I would dodge the bright area between the leg and tail (no comments please).

TFS,
Rachel

Hi Morkel, all has been addressed in the above comments, a cracking image and shows that upping the ISO nails images that some may not have taken. Love the raised feet.

Beautiful BG lighting and great timing on the leg posings. Nicely smooth look yet still detailed.

They are a bit goofy looking huh? Great light and a nice bg. I like how you captured the clumsy sort of stumbling walk over the scattered rocks.

Ditto what Cheryl said. What a great education to see this image. Lovely light.
