Hi There
Following on from my portrait shot of Bald eagle Cheyenne and Lana's suggestion that I try some more, I thought i would post this shot of Barn Owl "Avon" in flying display at HCT.
Now this wasn't a planned portrait shot, but was my more usual attempt of getting a sharp in flight shot of the birds and was using the 500mm wide open at F4. Hence no depth of field!! because the lens was pretty much at minimum focus distance of 4.5 metres (15 feet)
I know F11 would have been better ;) but at this close range it probably wouldn't have got all the head in focus anyway.
I love the detail on the feathers around the eye which is difficult to make out in the smaller version, there is also a tiny reflection in her eye of a back view of her brother "Test" landing on the Falconers glove.
