Bald Eagle

Workshop: Kachemak Bay, AK

D800, 300/2.8, ISO 640, 6.3, 1/4000

Calm winds and sunny days provided a great opportunity to use the resolution of the D800 to get some different Bald Eagle images.

I had to come back to this image a few times before I made up my mind.
I think this is very cool. Very unusual and the IQ and detail are outstanding.
I admire you for thinking out of the box! I wonder how this would look with more of the tail included.
This would have been over the top if the fish had been facing our way.
Gail
PS How big of a crop is this?

And POOOF, you were gone....:bg3:. Actually I like the idea.. The legs, talons and fish are in great focus. And you sure stopped the water droplets.. I split second earlier would probably have been a better image..

It's a very big crop Gail, but from a 36 MP file, it still has 2700 pixels on the long side after cropping. I always feel it's not what you crop off, but what you leave.

Love this unique perspective, Alan, and the image quality sure did hold up quite well. Love the water here and the reflection. The talons stand out so nicely. Love seeing photographers thinking outside the box.

Love the way this captures the essence of the action - says everything about the eagle without showing it!

Thanks for sharing.
