As spring approaches I find myself looking forward to my favorite birds- shorebirds.
Taken at Fort DeSoto last April.

F 500mm
ISO 400
f 6.3

Full frame and added a sliver at the top of canvas.

Super details in the light and dark plumage, great low angle, raised foot, slight head turn, sharp throughout, unobtrusive background - hey I'm lovin' this one!!:bg3:

Nice one Gail. I don't think it's the same bird I just posted! Great light and I like the walking pose. Although they look a bit messy, I love it when the real condition of the bird is portrayed in photographs. These are hard-working animals and in the case of this bird its head is peppered with that fine sand from Fort Desoto- kind of like a motor mechanic with oily hands!

Gail,

As mentioned above, this is a very nice capture. The low angle is just perfect - low enough to isolate the subject well, but high enough to see the legs. Just perfect!

At full frame, you really nailed the dof at f/6.3. I would have thought you might need something closer to f/8, but I see nothing wrong here.

The green in the bg is very complimentary and helps the orange from the beak really pop.

Have you sent this out for print yet?!

Lovely shot Gail, I like the low POV, detail & how the foot is just about to touch down.

I saw this on my ipad and had to look at it on my monitor. Love the way that the green compliments him. He's a bit of a mess which completes the story.

Hi Gail, excellent IQ, and you have really nailed the exposure and sharpness, not to mention the colours. Your low angle of capture has turned out well, and I do like how the OC is posed against the greenery of the BG. I like this lots. :w3

Lots to like here, and good call adding canvas. The greens really add alot to the image. Super nice.

Perfect exposure, great details, and a nice pose. The green of the BG accentuates the orange of the bill in a good way. Congrats on an excellent frame!
