Over the past week I have attempted to calibrate my D4, D800E, and D7000 using the LensAlign II target and Focus Tune VII Beta getting ready for an eagle photography trip later this week. Being mainly a nature photographer I tried to calibrate these Nikon bodies on my 600VR, 500VR, and 300 2.8 VR both with and without a Nikon 1.4 extender. The D4 has been very easy with all combinations and the D800E mostly easy but the D7000 almost impossible. It has taken many iterations to get anything consistent and then the numbers jump all over the place and are -+10 and does not give me any confidence. Is this a common problem with the D7000 or can you give me any suggestions to try? I calibrated at distances above but close to the 25X min distance. Is there any advantage to extend to 50X and to use any other target other than the Mark II target?
Thanks,
James
