Frank:

Sharp, beautifully exposed, nice head angle. wonderful eye.

The BG shows off the bird well. I might consider removing the lower catchlight, because the eye is so prominent in this image.

I could see just a sliver more room on top.

Excellent Frank, I can see detail in the eye, tons of detail in the feathers, good points by Randy. I love the BG.

Hi Frank. Excellent sharpness and detail - and what an interesting eye! Very nice background as well. I think this would have been even more dramatic if the light had been a little softer. :S3:

Very well exposed, particularly the eye. Feather detail superb. Nice to see a head shot of this interesting bird.

Absolutely super detail and exposure, I like the composition, this image has real appeal, I have gone back to it twice already, I never knew there was so much to see the grebe's eye.

Details, colours, exposure, BG all look super. I wouldn't mind a bit more room with a bit more neck showing, but certainly a striking portrait for sure. Although minor I'd also remove the small black spot on the lower mandible (nearing the tip). Impressive looking eye!!
