Hi Michael,

This is a beautiful image. Sharp, well exposed, and nice color. My only nit is the tree branch in front of the Moon. I would have moved to the left so the Moon was clear of the tree.

And what wonderful lens. Do you find a lot of uses for it besides astro? (drooling :w3)

Roger

Hey Roger,

I have shots of it before it got to the tree. I intentionally waited it for it to intersect the tree. :S3: This one is kind of a tongue in cheek "see, the moon is farther away than the tree" shot.

The 200 f2 started as a sports dungeon lens (high school gyms with horrible lighting and high school football fields with worse lighting). I just "discovered" it's astro potential (literally). It's short enough to let me shoot "kinda long" unguided exposures but long enough to give me some decent magnification.

Michael,

I feel one w/o the moon/tree intersect will be better.

I don't disagree. I tend to be one of those "ask me what time it is and I'll tell you how to build a watch" people, so I was "explaining why I chose that one"

Here's the non-intersect version. I have enough images to make a short time-lapse of the moon approaching and passing through the tree so there are a lot of "poses" for this one.

I like your inclusion of the comet and moon here, Michael, but for me personally the tree and city skyline aren't doing much in anchoring the image, in this case I would have preferred just the celestial elements...:e3

I understand. I have a few of those too. And if you prefer a bluer sky I have some from earlier in the evening.

That's more what I was thinking. But I'm just one person and my tastes are sometimes weird :Whoa!:.
