During my visit, just after my encounter with the River Terns, I found a flock of Asian Openbill Storks.
The sun was blazing down..... However, we had a brief period of light cloud cover and the heat came down a bit.
These guys were having a drink. We made our shots from the boat.

March 10, 2013.
Ranganthittu, Mysore, Southern India.
50D, 400mmf/5.6L
1/4000s, f/5.6, ISO-800, Ev -0.3, HH on a rocking boat.

Thanks for looking and suggestions.

Prabir:

Good head angle, shows off the 'open' bill well. Drips add.

I think it could go a bit brighter overall, whites in the 230s or so is generally a good target.

He appears to be leaning to the left, might try a bit of CW rotation. Cropped a bit tight for my tastes, esp on the left.

Cheers

Hi Prabir. What an interesting beak these storks have - and your image illustrates it very well! Nice sharpness (especially shooting from a boat) and the water drops add a lot to the image. I would agree with Randy about rotation and crop - if you have the room for these adjustments. Nicely done and a couple tweaks will make it even better!

Nice head turn and eye contact. As mentioned the crop is a little tight.

Randy, Steve, Karl - thanks a lot for your observations & suggestions. The only one suggestion that I can't implement is the frame. This is what I shot and there is no crop. Actually I was a bit too close with my 400mm lens.
Thanks again.
