Not real colorful but with the wings extended the contrasting dark brown feathers are attractive.

Nice shot Jack, very sharp and nicely exposed breeding plumage Willet. I see a halo around the entire bird however. Maybe this is from over sharpening? I also see BG noise. Dan Brown

head looks little over sharped. Like the wing position is very nice.

Congratulations on your frisky Piper...:D I like the action. The composition and exposure are great; love the pleasing background; the rich soft blue tones compliments your subject very well...:cool:

The action and timing are perfect as is the wing position, just great. I like the dangling feet also!
Agree with the halo comments, over sharpening also makes noise more noticable. This is a perfect example of why you should never sharpen an entire image. Just sharpen the details in the birds body and wings for maximun impact without haloing or noise.
