Green Jay on Huisache

From my trip to south TX a few weeks ago.
The minute I saw a Huisache in bloom, I knew I wanted to get a Green Jay on it. Took a while, but I was pleased when one finally landed and posed.
This is from a setup (using techniques from Alan Murphy's excellent ebooks)

1D4, 500mm, hide, tripod
1/500, f 6.3, iso 1000, manual flash

Killer image. The jay appears to be looking over at the flowers admiring your set up. Good work on the set up and patience to make this happen. Many photogrpahers don't realize how difficult set up photography really is.

Hi Sid, you should do more setups. :w3 I really like the overall settings with the bright colours in the image, and you have also exposed the Jay so well. Great DOF throughout the image, and you couldnt have chosen a better BG to complement the Jay. Great work.

You did a really nice job here, Sidharth.
I got Alan's book and tried some set ups in my yard, a total failure.
They are much harder than they would appear.
This is just great, the bird, pose and perch and foliage top notch.
I would maybe brighten the catchlight a bit.

Fantastic work! The perch is indeed an excellent compliment to the bird, and the bird itself is a beauty! Love it's pose, too. Only suggestion, I guess, would be to maybe find a contrasting background if you have the opportunity again. The current background is almost the same color as the bird, which kind of diminishes the impact of the whole setup. BTW, Excellent execution of Alan's tips! Looks like one of his own photos! :)
