I like the intensity of action and closeup view + the fanned tail. Although the wings are clipped it works in this composition, I wish the wings were more symmetrical.

main issue here is focus which locked on the talons leaving the head a bit soft. TFS

Wonderful!! The asymmetry of the wings adds energy, for me. Placing the owl slightly off center works with the asymmetry.

I like the asymmetry of this one, the fanned tail and the hint of BG. Cropped just right for me. I see a little too much yellow in the owl on this frame, except for the eye.

Great flight pose. I also like image composition and crop. The head looks a little out of focus. Perhaps a round of sharpening on the head would help.

Arash I agree the talons appear sharper than the head but the focus point is smack dap where you want it. Any ideas ? It was the first time I used the 5DMKIII btw but I think I had the custom functions set as I am used to with the 1D series.

Hey Mike, the location of AF point does not tell the whole story in AI-servo AF... It depends on when the camera had initially locked and how it was tracking. sometimes it doesn't track well (lags behind like this case) you need to bump it along the way to over-write the re-focus delay and force it to acquire the head.

5D3 should work just fine with 1D C.Fns
