Other than a slight exposure tweak in photoshop, this is pretty much a straight negative scan.

Hi Erik, a huge welcome to BPN, and hope you get to share and learn as you go along. An interesting perspective here, and as the ground seems fairly far below, I would be interested to know how you captured this. I do like the open beak with the tongue visible, and Im fine with the DOF, as the main focus is on the head.

Hey Stuart and thanks for the welcome! For the past two years I've been lucky enough to work on a research project with these birds. This picture is a little deceiving because I actually have this girl in hand. With a little wind, she opened right up into a flight-like posture.
For the record, this is a juvenile female (roughly 55-60 days) weighing in at around 1900-2100 grams. A large girl for her species.

nice perspective, I like the open beak. BG is a bit grainy.
