I photographed this black and white polka-dotted beetle in Costa Rica. 1D 4, 100 mm macro, 1/250, f/14, ISO 400, light tent, 2 remotely fired flashes, HH. All comments are welcome and appreciated.

I LOVE the B/W, the clean BG and the astonishing DOF and sharpness! This image hits me over the head -- in the best possible way.

Outstanding image with excellent sharpness and detail.

I'm yet to try out this light tent set up. You've got this technique perfected!

Lovely shot Steve. A really, really nice job the dof. Little beetle looks like it was scrubbed up nice and clean for a photo shoot. Excellent contrast.

I really like this it is very eye catching, the detail is excellent and the blacks are not too heavy. I am interested did you shoot this conventionally in colour and process in colour or have you at some point converted to monochrome?

Thanks for the comments, folks!

Jon - This was shot in color. The beetle really was black and white. :S3:

I thought that was the case, I think this makes the image all the more remarkable. I have looked at the image a few times now - just can't leave it alone!
