Very nice Jonathan. The exposure looks spot on, as I can still see some detail in the white feathers. I think a little bit of room on the bottom might be nice, if you have it.

Very nice image Jonathan. I like the perch, (big fan of lichen covered everything) and the bird has nice details and eye contact.

Techs seem pretty good, although maybe it could do with a touch more brightness, and yes to the lovely lichen covered branch, nicer if it was a little thinner but birds have no concept of what pleases photographers ?

My favorite thing about woodpeckers is the two toes forward two toes backwards configuration and the way the use there tails for balance, both of which you were able to capture here.

I like the mood and lighting a lot.
Bright enough for me.
Very nice close up.
I think the bird could use a bit more sharpening.

Thanks very much everyone, much appreciated. Phil I have a thinner perch but but seems to go for this one, I will remove the larger one and try again!
