Tethering to a Canon

Anybody try tethering to their Canon?

I have a Canon 1D Mark II. My OS is Win7.

When i hook up the Firewire, Windows recognizes it and I see
a folder.

I've tried two different types of software and neither is seeing the
camera.

I've tried EOS Utility and a trial version of DSLR Remote Pro.

The utilities are up to date as is the firmware.

I've tried turning the camera on before the software starts and
after the software starts. Doesn't see the camera.

Any ideas?

you cannot tether a 1D2. 1D3 and later support tethering.
