Shot with 7D and 100-400mm vertically. Very minor post only to tone down the whites on top of the head and most of all removed 5 color bads on its legs.

Nice work in post, and good composition. I wouldn't mind a head angle slightly more toward the viewer and perhaps a bit more bokeh to separate the bird from a similar background, but overall I enjoy the high IQ of this great bird!

Nice exposure and details on your jay. Like the perch and the light. Wish the jay were facing toward you a little instead of away and find the BG a bit cluttered.

Very nice shot of the jay, ideally the head would be turned a little more toward the camera. I would consider blending the background a little to make it less obtrusive.

Here's another Robert Bateman! I love the BG -- instructive of the setting but complements instead of competing with the bird.

If it were me, I'd remove the one small branch that just touches the tip of the beak. Everything else is icing on the cake, to me.

Have you thought about setting up a little perch with a nice BG and calling them...maybe having a little food for them?
