Finaly finding some cleaner nest sites. This one jumped up on the ugly perch that the preservation society puts up at each nest site. They look like a church cross. Not geard towards photography. I cropped it from the bottom and cloned out the remaining horizontal piece. I think it works as well as it's gonna.:S3:

Good call on showing very little of the perch. The bird looks great so is the background, Joe.

Very nice light and nice pose.
The best you have posted of these Owls, sharp, Nice BG and the perch looks fine.

I'd crop from the top. Uneven pupils had me looking at this for a while. The whites around his face look pretty hot to me. (Without examining it in Photoshop)

Yes Grace the pupils are strange , but real. I guess the eys adjust to light independently.

The best owl photo yet! Love how those talons are gripping the post and the light is terrific. I would like to see the bird moved upon the frame some if you have the room below. Agree on toning down the face a little. Have seen the eyes adjust independently. It's interesting to see it in a capture.

Check out the light and BG..not to mention the subject! Too bad the perch was so bad that it resulted in the owl being so low in the frame. You could chop some off the top but then you'd lose some of that nice dark band above.
