We were very lucky to come across this painted reed frog sitting on a reasonably exposed reed as we crossed one of the deep water channels on a recent photo safari to Duba Plains, Okavango Delta, Botswana. Sitting in the vehicle waist deep in water made for a great low eye level angle and enabled me to get both some out of focus reeds and blue sky in the background.

Camera NIKON D3
Focal Length 400mm
Shutter Speed 1/1000 sec
Aperture f/8
ISO/Film 400

The is a really cool looking frog and a well composed image.

Only thing that could have been better would have been no OOF reed between you and the one the frog is on. Of course I do understand the limitation you were facing in a vehicle in water.

Thanks for posting Brendon

Nothing like what Ive ever seen!!! This is a beautiful amphibian that is photographed beautifully in an even better looking surrounding. Since you were shooting from a distance could you have positioned yourself better to avoid that OOF stem in the foreground and get a better side angle in the process. Loved it at the end!! Thanks for sharing :-)

Overall the image just works. Great work Brendon. The white on the surrounding greens works so well.
