It may not be world-beater, but I was pleased to finally capture my nemesis. After two days of observing I learned the habits of this girl and set-up shop. Luckily she did as expected and provided me with some nice poses.

This is a 33% crop (as in 33% discarded) in spite of shooting with a 500 +2x. The old MkIII sensor holds up pretty well. :)

1D MkIII
500 f/4 + 2x III
1/640 @ f/10
EV - 1/3
ISO 400

Basic processing in LR with final cleanup of some small, distracting twigs on the perch and some background smoothing.

Cheers
David

You did a super job with my nemesis bird, David. Love your vertical presentation. Great job on exposure and all those details with the 2x TC. F10 was a great choice. Your BG and perch work very nicely.

Congrats on a nice capture of a bird that I think challenges a lot of us. I like his pose a lot, and the BG is perfect. If it were mine I may tone down the perch a bit but small nit for a great overall image!

Challenge us? They absolutely hate me. I really like this image. Around here, they must text/warn each other when I'm out with my camera. I can't get within 20 yards of them.
