This little fellow was nice enough to pose for me in good light. I managed to crouch in the snow with the 500 and 1D2N.

Great image Charles. Looks like a Black-capped based on the greater orange on the sides, more white in the wings, and the more ragged bib on the corners. Terrific detail and good light and HA. Looks like you could brighten just a tad as the snow and white feathers look just a bit grey on my monitor. It's great as is though. VWD.

Thank you Dennis, getting a reply like that on BPN for me is rare :-) I always seem to forget a detail!

I was aware of the species, since it's really all we have around here (eastern Canada), but thanks!

Regards,

Charles

Hello, Charles! What a nice, sharp bird, cute pose too. I do agree with Dennis that the whites need to be brightened up as they look grey. Do that and you've got a real nice image here.

Thanks Grace! I just uploaded an adjusted version. I simply increased the whites in LR and 1/3 of a stop in exposure. How does it look?

Charles,

Really diggin' the repost. I would get rid of the specular highlight just under the tail, then send it right over to my portfolio ;)

My first thought was that the OP was dark...the repost addresses that. Nice details, pose, and I dig the low angle which is not often seen in photographs of this species. They do go to the ground often enough so I like this alternate view of this delightful species.

Miguel, I will definitely fix the specular but not forward it to your portfolio :D :D

Thanks for the wonderful comment.

Thank you Daniel. I really have to get used to my monitor or calibrate it properly I guess. Overall darkness is a common comment I get! I agree that I have seldom seen an angle like this of the common black capped chickadee, I tried to get something unique and apparently it worked!
